Ensuring sustainability is not a new challenge of the arts sector in Northern Ireland and as pressures increase, the need to adapt and find alternative models of operation has never been needed more. For the past 3 years, Arts & Business NI have been running the Blueprint Programme which focuses on investment in long-term growth and finding the route to greater financial security and artistic freedom. The programme has allowed for the exploration and thinking of new models, the practical application of financial concepts and the consideration of what it really takes to effect change. However, the sector is in more of a state of flux than ever. Through a series of speakers, panels and workshops this event will provide the opportunity to ask where the greatest challenges lie and ask how we can continue to work as impactful organisations within the current system.

Speakers include –

  • David Jubb, Citizens in Power – David will be speaking to the impact of changing decision-making process and the establishment of citizens’ assemblies as a mechanism for change.
  • Olwen Dawe, Safe to Create - will be speaking about creating change and converting advocacy into action from her experience of working across Ireland.

Attendees can take part in workshops and panels led by –
  • Liam McGarry - considering the development of a tool which shows how we really demonstrate what is a ‘Healthy Organisation’.
  • Niamh Goggin, Small Change Ltd- reflecting on how we use finance as a strategic force
  • Mark Robinson, Thinking Practice - discussing on how organisations move forward with control.
  • Panels discussions will also give us the opportunity to hear from those challenging conventional models and what practical measures have worked in improving the stability of their organisations
