New Member Spotlight...The Junction Retail & Leisure Park

Supporting local organisations to  thrive is one of Arts & Business NI’s core objectives, so it’s always a cause for celebration when a new member joins our fold!

We’re delighted to announce the recent addition The Junction Retail & Leisure Park to our Business member list. Located in Antrim, The Junction is the go-to retail and leisure destination in Northern Ireland; a playground for visitors of all ages! Shopping is only one part of The Junction experience. As well as housing over 30 retailers, they offer a wide range of places to eat and drink, activities for the kids and a 10-screen Omniplex cinema.

We first teamed up with The Junction’s team in December 2020; working closely with Centre Manager Chris Flynn and local theatre-makers Cahoots NI, we helped to facilitate the production of Elves Got Talent, a COVID-safe drive-in performance which took place over Christmas in The Junction’s carpark.

Regular shoppers thoroughly enjoyed the production (check out their feedback below!), and the centre saw a noticeable boost in their sales, as a result of the buzz created by the show.

Following this successful performance, The Junction came onboard as a full Business Member of Arts & Business NI.

Chris Flynn, Centre Manager, The Junction commented:

“My team at The Junction were incredibly proud of the ‘Elves got Talent’ drive-in pantomime delivered by the extremely talented team at Cahoots NI. It was something different, and it definitely brought some much needed festive cheer to the audience and our staff! We believe there are lots of opportunities for us to partner with arts organisations. Our membership of Arts & Business NI is a great way of networking with the many talented performers working in the creative industries. Covid-19 has forced everyone to think differently. The Junction passionately believes that it is mutually beneficial for the arts sector and retail in Northern Ireland to work together, particularly as we continue to adapt to the new normal”

Maeve McKervey, Head of Business, Arts & Business NI commented:

“We are delighted to welcome The Junction Retail and Leisure Park as a business member of  Arts & Business NI. From our very first discussions with Chris, we realised that he is a great advocate for the Arts in Northern Ireland, and sees the real business benefit that creative partnerships can bring.

His novel drive in panto ‘Elves got Talent’, delivered during a pandemic, in partnership with Cahoots NI, is an indication of just how forward thinking Chris and his team are. The creative project enabled Chris to keep the magic of Christmas alive for his shoppers and the local community, during an exceptionally difficult year for many.

We are really excited to work with Chris on future creative projects at The Junction Retail and Leisure Park.”
